In 2018, storm Vaia brought the Dolomites to their knees and felled 42 million trees. This is VAIA’s original project: we decided to take action and do our bit.
A weather event of exceptional magnitude, the most devastating natural disaster of the last 50 years in Italy: proof that something is happening to our Planet and that we can no longer stand by and watch.
How can we respond to the unpredictable consequences of climate change?
We have recovered fallen trees, considered to be ‘waste’, turning them into a valuable resource. In doing so, we valorised an exclusively local supply chain: woodcutters, carpenters and artisans linked to the area. Then, we put together a team of designers to create an iconic object, designed to amplify the sounds, but also our energy and desire to get involved. Finally, we closed the circle, giving back to the ecosystem what it had lost: the forests. So, for every Cube sold, we plant a new tree in the Dolomites.
We have currently planted 100,000 trees in the Dolomites: join us to reach the goal of
VAIA wood comes from the trees that luthiers of all times have chosen for their resonance quality: the storm destroyed them, we restore their value and new dignity.
is an uneven and irregularly broken wood, which does not allow the construction of large objects: an apparent limitation that we transform into a distinctive element of our style.
is a wood that is often weather-stained: not a defect, but an added value that makes creations such as the VAIA CUBE imperfetto unique.
